The 11th edition of the International Classification of Diseases was presented at the World Health Assembly in May and is slated to take effect in January 2022.
To prepare for the transition from ICD-10 to ICD-11, softwareadvice.com recommended that healthcare providers:
- Become familiar with new ICD-11 codes and chapters, such as the new code for work burnout
- Ensure they are updated on the latest versions of revenue cycle management and EHR software needed for the transition
- Have a leader in place to oversee self-assessment of areas such as coding discipline as well as training efforts leading up to January 2022
